Sophistication & Style
This home has been designed and built to be thermally efficient, comfortable and effortless to live in. With future generations in mind it has been fitted with an air to water in-floor heating system which is broken away from the garage slab and is insulated on the external foundation walls to retain energy stored within the concrete slab. This same system also can be switched to cooling mode for the warmer months of the year which keeps the home at an ambient temperature all year round.
The level of detail throughout the design has further reinforced the performance of the home from the general orientation through to the high level insulation values and supporting quality specification details in and around the buildings thermal envelope.
The kitchen, with its sleek black appliances and designer profile subtly imitates the shape of the home with its waterfall stone island bench and overhanging joinery paneling towering over the main cooking area. The spacious scullery provides a separate space with plenty of spare storage. This is naturally lit and can be closed off from the main kitchen.
The cladding is a blend of vertical linia boards placed in random profiling with the cedar placed in covered areas only to avoid maintenance. The stone work brings the external tones together using a blend of stone from different local quarries placed with the traditional bagged mortar finish. The main cedar soffit linings tower over the lower section of the home providing shade and cover in the summer months and also are extended down on the wing wall ends providing sheltering where needed.
This home is an example and a bench mark to how we should be building in NZ well above the out of date minimum building code. It's not hard or expensive to achieve what we have here with the level of effortless comfort this home provides and its low maintenance nature.
As a company we look forward to a future of building high proformance homes which add value to the environment of our future generations and ease the burden for their lives. We believe it's only a matter of time when homes built to this standard hold value over that of sub standard homes sadly so commonly built in NZ today. With this we hope others can feel and see the benefit of building homes with smarter choices which benefit their lives and the footprint of our future.
